I'm running out of pictures here....must be time to borrow the camera again. This fine specimen, although messy, appears to be doing okay by the front door. Unfortunately, I finally killed the little Japanese Maple that occupied this spot. Hopefully, this will do better there.
The Weight Watchers Program appears to be going well for two of us three girls. One girl has been sidetracked by the tyrrany of the urgent (boy, don't we all relate)...but friend Karen has lost a little more than 12 pounds since we started and I've lost almost 9. I'd love to say it's been easy, but it hasn't. We're both exercising pretty hard and being really faithful about staying on program. My weight's down about 15 lbs. since the beginning of the year and I'm finally starting to see the blood sugars come down (hurrah).
The big find of the day for "good" foods was peanut butter powder---have you ever heard of such a thing? Apparently, you can put it in drinks and recipes for the peanut butter flavor without the high fat content. It looks dehydrated, then powdered. About $6 for a peanut butter sized jar.
As a special treat today, Doc and I went out to Mexican Food.for lunch ....a big challenge I've avoided until now. I did fine (although my dinner tonight was skimpy). I had a spinach enchillada and a mixed vegetable enchillada with a nice sauce and sour cream. I ate the rice, skipped the beans and managed to hold my participation to three chips (I was pretty impressed since I usually eat a whole basket---or at least my share!).
The rest of my day involved finishing touches for the wedding gift/shower, errands for the office and some grocery shopping. (This is my big exercise plan....shopping, shopping and more shopping).
Sounds like Heather and gang had an exciting day, too. George's still having some stomach issues (maybe just overeating after so long of queasy) and Heather's not up to snuff yet, either. They got a nice hole in the ground to plant another tree---their land requires 5' deep and wide to get a tree to grow---would like another tulip tree for shade.
Looks like the VA clinic has a couple of openings for an LVN, so I printed the 17 pages of application today---guess what my day off is going to involve? Probably will take a long time. The positions are full-time (8-4:30 M-F), but great benefits and right across the street from Doc's office so I could go help him close up shop and file and stuff at the end of the day. It remains to be seen if I can get hired but we've decided to at least try because we are really wanting the benefits of a government job. My volunteer stuff has at least shown that I think I would like the atmosphere and the people.
Take care and God Bless
