Van Remodel August 31, 2009

The new drapes for the sides of the van came out perfect (as if you could tell as they hang on my barstools). This is the new porta potty....a little over kill for what we're planning, but we decided to spend enough to get something that Heather and Spencer could use camping, too.

This is the new luxury inflatable bed for the back of the van...came with a nice mattress pad and I bought a converter so it can be inflated in less than 60 seconds.

Our friends in Idaho, Bear and Kathie, are chuckling and making hippie jokes!
Miss AnnaBell had a bladder ultrasound this morning...her bladder is WAY too big and isn't emptying properly. She'll have to have a further study with contrast the end of September.
George's seizures are better....and the Alice and Wonderland syndrome has abated once George got off the generic drug and back on brand name.
By the way, we're headed to Idaho over the holiday to see Bear and Kathie and the van remodel is our plan B if we go exploring while we're up there.

Block Six August 13, 2009

The top picture is the July block. Hurrah! Only the August block to go to "catch up". Actually, that's a long way from caught up because each block has to be appliqued....only the first have the individual machine-stitched applique on them, so there's another monster job out there to really "catch up".
In order to qualify for the $50 in free supplies when we finish the quilt blocks in February, all the blocks must have the machine quilting on them. Eventually, each block will have to have borders, be put together in one quilt, have machine quilting over the three layers and THEN and only then, the embellishments can be added (i.e. the clothes line and pin clothes, buttons, trims, etc.). It's likely this puppy will actually take two years before it's completely finished.
Looks like there's a busy week coming up. I work Sat and Sun, Heather and I take George to Sacramento to see the neurologist for their weird vision issues on Monday, then I start recaps 18-19-20. So, it will be the 21st around here before things even return to semi-normal.

Andrew's allergy shots August 11. 2009

Andrew graduated from bee-sting allergy shots to "real" shots in the arm today. As you can see from the first shot at the top, he's fairly wiped out. Today was Vacation Bible School, followed by the allergy shots, followed by an opthamology appoint for George, followed by bloodwork for George---by the time they got to our house, the older boys were wiped out. The red area on Andrew's arm is about the size of a silver dollar, but he didn't faint or puke this time LOL. One arm reacted a lot more than the other, for whatever reason.

Rog and I kept AnnaBell and Jonathan who had lunch here, then took naps, so they aren't quite as tired as the older kids. Jonathan "made" it to Vacation Bible School age this year, so he's pretty tired and really needing that nap.

No word on George's visual stuff....opthamologist said it's not vision, but some kind of neurological anomoly---albeit seizures or migraines.

I've worked on the next block all day, but am not done...will post when I finish it. It's been kinda hard to combine the applique on this one.

August 7, 2009

I've fallen behind on this project, so my June quilt block is at the top (now I'm only July and August behind!). Unfortunately, between the broken finger and the burned finger the lavendar block took M-F instead of the usual two days! I've been worried about combining the browns and pastels together, so I laid everything out where it's going to go (the pile of red white and blue fabric is July's block unassembled)....I was thrilled to find out it doesn't clash as I suspected.
George is having some vision issues and the neurologist on call lowered his meds and his regular neurologist wants to increase them! No decision yet, but George appears to be fine today. The medical opinion is that his vision anomolies yesterday were a silent migraine.

August 3, 2009

Here's George under our kitchen sink...Papa had to put in a new faucet and George was his helper (two days and much commotion).
Long 30 days! Here's some highlights:
1. 30 year anniversary on Aug. 1st (opal jewelry)
2. Broke my right index finger (making typing dicey)
3. Big boys got new bikes (hurrah) after a major crash when the chain went on one of them.
4. Have started sewing blocks again.
All's good...just haven't blogged (still do Facebook a lot).
