April 29, 2009 Try Number Two!

I actually figured out how to transfer a couple of the pictures from the play....you still might want to check out Heather's blog as she has lots more

April 29, 2009

Cute picture of Miss AnnaBell on an ATV. (No, it isn't running). It took Anna a couple days to decide she could sit on one without being afraid.

Anna finally had a new pair of earrings in today (recently pierced ears)....little green frogs...very cute!

Heather's blog has lots of pictures taken during the recent performance of Robinson Crusoe by the Missoula Children's Theater (that Andrew and George were in). Even some nice pictures of Spencer's Mom and Dad, Pat and Frank.

I can't figure out how to transfer pictures from one blog to the other, so you'll have to visit hers, too.

Scrambled Eggs and Softball 4/20/09

These pictures are off Heather's Facebook.....cool title...Scrambled Eggs and Softball (shows what an exciting day she had today).
Andrew and George were both chosen for the Missoula Children's Theater production of Robinson Crusoe to be given at the State Theater in Red Bluff next Saturday. This is the third year in a row for George, but Andrew's first year to make it through tryouts. They have two rehearsals a day and a dress rehearsal on Sat with two performances, so it's likely to be a long week around here.
It was 100 degrees in Red Bluff today....George looks like he's melting to me!

Bell's Camping/ATV Trip 4/19/2009

First picture is Jonathan riding an ATV by himself (foggy morning). Second picture is Miss AnnaBell.....LOVIN' sand! The third is Heather's favorite of Andrew and George Bell and Tanner Mattson trying to get the dern thing pushed so they can start it.

Of course, Heather's taken hundreds of pictures (well lots, anyway), but I conned her out of giving me a couple to post tonight since we don't know when she'll get to posting on her website.

Anna fell in front of a restaurant and split her upper lip (which is obviously not further damaged by sand)....but George had a good trip without any seizures or side affects.

More pictures over the next few days. They had a great trip and were so grateful to Eric and Jayna for pulling off such a fabulous campout (they got to stay in their camper, too)....actually, I'm deciding to add one more picture which will actually post first, I think...since I don't know how to use the blog effectively.....all six kids at bedtime (I think Carter's already crashed).

Grandma's Gardening Project April 16, 2009

One of those RARE outdoor days---I venture outside in the sun about once a year, but I've been feeling sorry for Roger trying to keep up with the yards. I didn't think we should have semi-dead plants across the front to help with the sale, sooooooo
I bought 21 Verbena in blue/purple and actually got them all in the ground. It was such an amazing sight to see me outside, much less doing yard work, that I drew a crowd. I even had one neighbor snickering! Oh well, Mary-Kathryn took these pictures for me so I could PROVE that I occasionally help around here!

George and Andrew with Beards 4/15/2009

It appears that shampoo (when combined with the jacuzzi's jets) equals a HUGE bubble bath!
As you can see, the boys were having a blast.
We took George to the local pediatrician yesterday to get the referral to the hot-shot pediatric neurologist down in Sacramento. This will be a slow process....they said it would be July before he can be seen. That will give him three months of meds first, so that may be a good thing.
Looks like Heather and Jonathan are coming down with a cold, so more stress at their house. I wish there were some way of keeping them more healthy---but they go to church, play softball, go shopping and come across a dozen exposures a week!
Our garage door stopped working (along with all the electrical on that circuit breaker). Rog didn't have time to find it before work yesterday, so we got to experience life without a garage door opener----are we spoiled, or what? It was a PAIN!
The good news is that Rog was able to check everything this morning and found a GFI that had gone off....simple solution. THANKS, LORD!
Rog is going to the hot tub without me, so I'm going to quit now.

Update on George April 14, 2009

We had Andrew and George overnight.....George woke up with a short seizure around 7a. It lasted 15 seconds and he was able to "sign".......FINISHED.....to Papa when it was over (he has complete awareness). It was about one more minute before he was able to talk. He wasn't sleepy afterwards and carried on with his usual hot chocolate and breakfast while watching cartoons with Papa.

We don't know if he has a loading dose of Tegretol on board yet (it said it takes 30 days to have enough medicine in his bloodstream to stop the seizures)...it's only been a couple weeks. We covet your continued prayers as we work on getting the medication dose exactly right. We also would appreciate prayer to find the right pediatric neurologist. Thank you.

Easter Morning, 2009

Happy Easter....He is risen!

Here's blockhead #3....whew! Very tough one! My friend, Mary-Kathryn helped with the paper piecing section (roof)....I wouldn't have been able to get it without her. Paper piecing requires some kind of mind visualization that MY MIND just won't grab.

The little thing on the top is a rooster weather vane. The details on all of it will become a lot more clear once the applique stitches are added (somewhere in the future when I recover from this part!).

George is fine. So far, no more seziures and no visable side affects from the meds.

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday. Much love, Joy and gang (they're all coming for dinner later).

AnnaBell's Quilt + update on George

Here's AnnaBell's alphabet quilt. It's got pins and is ready to be quilted. Can't decide whether to just quilt the fussy cut alphabet or do the squares, too. May have to start before I can decide.

George and Andrew spent the night at our house. George slept well, no seizures. So far, no side affects from the medication. Thanks for the prayers.

Rog attended the Calvary Chapel satellite feed of Chuck Smith and Joel Rosenberg (?) yesterday from 9 to 4. Said it was a wonderful conference and well worth the time to attend.

Today is church and work for me. Heather should be home this afternoon.

Lance Corporal Andrew Bell

Wow! Guess what??? Andrew passed his next exam today. He's now Lance Corporal Andrew Bell. Big deal. We're so proud of him...another row of ribbons!

George 4/4/09

He's doing good.....no sz. last night.

Started med, no visable side affects yet.

George's EEG

For those of you who haven't heard from us asking for prayer, prayer appreciated.

George's EEG was abnormal. We don't have a complete diagnosis, but he has definitely been having some type of seizure activity (during the EEG even). This type of sz activity can have weird symptomology.....inappropriate laughter, choking, drooling, facial tics making it very difficult to be sure it's a seizure.

We saw the pediatric neurologist last Tuesday....got a diagnosis of temporal lobe epilepsy with an rx for Tegretol. Doctor concurred that it was fine to wait on the meds until we had an MRI and baseline bloodwork.

Heather moved his records from Chico pediatrician (too far away) to a local pediatrician here in Cottonwood with the first appointment to be next Wednesday.

Alas, not to be.....George had a seizure this morning at 4a, then at 6a, then at 7a. So far, the seizures have mostly been when he is waking up....but he had one Wed. during the day. On Wed., he had a severe facial tic (one of the symptoms of the seizure) and was aware it was happening. Heather and Spencer were both there and did get a very short video tape of the sz.

Heather had George at the new pediatrician's this morning at 8a. They worked him in and gave the script for the bloodwork. He had the bloodwork STAT and the results are back already---perfect bloodwork and okay to start the medication. Obviously, things are heating up and we can't wait for the MRI before starting the meds.

Today's episodes included the eyes starting to pull towards his ear (a more typical sz behavior than he's been having) and his limbs are starting to twitch...again, more serious sz. activity than we've seen before.

Thank you to all who are praying. Heather LOVED the new pediatrician and got a wonderful response and treatment this morning....no doubt a results of your prayers. George will start the meds tonight, so keep on praying, please, as there can be significant adverse affects.
