For those of you who haven't heard from us asking for prayer, prayer appreciated.
George's EEG was abnormal. We don't have a complete diagnosis, but he has definitely been having some type of seizure activity (during the EEG even). This type of sz activity can have weird symptomology.....inappropriate laughter, choking, drooling, facial tics making it very difficult to be sure it's a seizure.
We saw the pediatric neurologist last Tuesday....got a diagnosis of temporal lobe epilepsy with an rx for Tegretol. Doctor concurred that it was fine to wait on the meds until we had an MRI and baseline bloodwork.
Heather moved his records from Chico pediatrician (too far away) to a local pediatrician here in Cottonwood with the first appointment to be next Wednesday.
Alas, not to be.....George had a seizure this morning at 4a, then at 6a, then at 7a. So far, the seizures have mostly been when he is waking up....but he had one Wed. during the day. On Wed., he had a severe facial tic (one of the symptoms of the seizure) and was aware it was happening. Heather and Spencer were both there and did get a very short video tape of the sz.
Heather had George at the new pediatrician's this morning at 8a. They worked him in and gave the script for the bloodwork. He had the bloodwork STAT and the results are back already---perfect bloodwork and okay to start the medication. Obviously, things are heating up and we can't wait for the MRI before starting the meds.
Today's episodes included the eyes starting to pull towards his ear (a more typical sz behavior than he's been having) and his limbs are starting to twitch...again, more serious sz. activity than we've seen before.
Thank you to all who are praying. Heather LOVED the new pediatrician and got a wonderful response and treatment this morning....no doubt a results of your prayers. George will start the meds tonight, so keep on praying, please, as there can be significant adverse affects.
