Last Day of May, 2008

We didn't have the boys overnight since they're still bouncing tummy-stuff around. I did, however, take Andrew to Young Marines this morning. We arrived in Red Bluff around 10 am for a "drill" to find out it was actually a clean-the-warehouse day. They said it was fine to leave him and come back around 3p.

Fortunately, I have more of a controlling nature---I stuck around and, sure enough, they were done with him by 12:30! He was thrilled to get away early and back to "Papa's". They gave him pizza and he did a one-mile march, but it was a pretty uneventful day. I talked to the Sgt. about the glitch we've been feeling in knowing where he's supposed to be, when he's supposed to be there and whether or not he's to bring a lunch. The Sgt.'s response is that the 16 yr. old in charge of informing parents is having a little trouble getting organized (gottcha). I said I'd be happy to type phone lists, make some calls, type a schedule and e-mail it out, etc. His response,
"Well, I can tell I need to have you as one of my adult leaders!" (I pointed out I couldn't exactly pass any fitness standards----he said no problem). Turns out to be a case of wanting to help a little and maybe getting to help a lot! I'm pretty happy to stay and make sure Andrew's doing okay, so it will probably work out fine. Heather says she's going to start calling me Sgt. Payton.

After the YM, Andrew and I went to buy some groceries for the church picnic tomorrow. He was thrilled to get to sit in the basket and read his Y M magazine (the first they've given him).
When we got back to the house, Heather and Spencer had an outing while Papa and I watched the children. I should say the kids watched a movie, Papa slept and I made food for tomorrow's picnic and tonight's dinner.

They're all in the other room right now eating and I decided to take this opportunity to sneak some trivia on the blog. Rog did wake up and took them all swimming and in the hot tub---but George's tummy acted up so he's back on the couch.

I think they're all headed home and I can get back to the next episode of Gilmore Girls (our current favorite DVDs loaned by Auntie Jayna).
