May 30, 2008

Boy, this month is fly'n by! I always mean to blog before I leave in the morning, but I usually get side-tracked on chores or packing a lunch or whatever and forget. The aging mind is an awesome thing!

Yesterday was a VA hospital volunteer day---unfortunately, another bust. I waited for a call most of the day to give me when to show up---call never came. So, I was dressed up with nowhere to go. I finally drove to Redding and helped Rog at the office a little. Then perused the fish stores and bought some nice guppies. We have a 10-gal tank on the eating bar and we've not liked the latest round of fish (white molly x 3) because they were too aggressive with our little guppies. So, they have gone bye bye (don't ask) and been replaced with a beautiful male cobra guppy and both an orange and yellow female guppies. We already had a blue set and a couple teenagers---can't tell what they look like yet---will end up with about 10, I think. The catfish is getting too big for our tank and we finally found a little chinese algae-eater that's been successful for us (by not dying).

Auntie Jayna loaned Heather the Gilmore Girls, season one. Heather and I both chugged through it and loved it, so I drove out to her house and exchanged it for season two yesterday, too. That was my big accomplishment for the day! Heather's started on it and I'll get to come up behind her. I love having something chick-flick to watch while knitting.

We have good friends, Sylvia and Vern, driving up to see us next Tuesday. Great fun since we haven't seen each other in years. Exchanging "kid" lists has been shocking....our eldest kids are or are almost 40! We have a crop of 5 grandkids, but they have 9! Yikes. Time flies. Sylvia and I worked together a zillion years ago in Oakland.

My weight loss is going okay. I've been on Weight Watchers for three weeks and have lost a little over five pounds. I'm happy to report I'm down 12 pounds since March 1st (at least it's going down instead of up). The WW requires tons of time for planning, shopping and chopping---but it's more food than I used to eat and I've managed to find or consume all my favorite food. Well, with the exception of french fries....can't come up with an acceptable substitute. Yes, I've tried the potato wedges...they're good, but they're not fries!

I need to borrow the camera back from Heather. I have an African Violet that I've had for almost four years...it has more than a dozen lavendar blooms right now and I was hoping to get a pic before it wilts. I love seeing all the pictures on her blog but it's a nuisance if I need the camera. It was Rog and my Christmas present to each other...we love the camera because it can point-and-click for idiots like me but do fancy stuff for Heather and Roger when they want to use the 18 zoom or do something exotic.

Nice blog.

I am done with CD one, you can stop and get it on your way home. Did you order CD two?

CD one was ruff. I don't know what she got on it, but whatever it was it didn't wash off. I had to go forward and back a few times to get it all.

Anyhow, Hope to see you later.
