Thank goodness for good friends that I can call and at least get advice over the phone (MK, Kathie and Karen). Karen kept me from having a melt down today as I tried to figure out how much beige fabric I would need for all 12 blocks.....I got really upset since there are 22 different sized cuts that will be required...I have no idea if I have enough material for all that! There are seven different fabrics so I won't go there yet. Karen told me to quit "trying to eat the elephant" and just stick with this week's assignment.
In retrospect, looks like this was NOT a good quilt pattern for a beginner. There are zillions of things that would have been easier---I made it a lot harder and out of my abilities by unknowingly choosing many fabrics with one-way designs. Boy, will I know to watch out for that next time!
So, am I learning anything....yup...tons. Not enjoying it much, though. Wishing for a simple little nine-patch!
I did manage to see my doctor this morning for a checkup. I didn't enjoy that much either since I hadn't been keeping up with my "girl" stuff and he was unwilling to let me pass again. Unfortunately, he wasn't done and I still have a mammo, bone density do go. Bah humbug.
On another note, we had a God-thing yesterday. Rog's table at the office had some tears in the naugahyde....he and I went to the office to recover 1/3 of the table (it's in three pieces). When we got ready to use the new fabric, it wasn't the same color. Dilema: cover it with a different color or reupholster all three sections? The Lord gave me the idea to go check Joann's to see if we could find the original color. Rog needed 22" to cover the 1/3. The Lord is so good....there was one little bolt buried that had exactly 22" on it! Not 21, not 22, but 23! Isn't that an amazing story? The table came out looking great, by-the-way.
Well, I'm bushed and all the things I meant to do today didn't get done, so guess I'll get a move on....lots still to do.
